Forum Title: Tiling The Curb

i have tiled many floors over the years, but just started installing tiled showers. Does anyone have any better solutions for the mortar bed on the curb. I have been installing my initial mortar bed then my liner, then my 1.5-2 mortar bed before I install my floor tile, but I have yet to get the mortar to stay on the sides of the curb...it always slides down causing me to have to compensate when I install my tile. I have seen some new stryrofoam kits for this problem, but I take it there are other options, like backer board sealed at the seems or something else. Thanks.

You don't use Mortar to form a curb, Mortar is used to set tile. There are other products available to use to form curbs, whether it be the same product you use for your pre-slope and pan or a product pre made from one of the different manufacturers. YouTube and Google are your friend if you don't know what to do, or ask your supplier.

stone...there are ready made kits/forms made that slip over the 2x4 curb also i believe there is 1 or 2 versions that actually are the curb u just install it in place( the one i saw is a plastic open mesh,like a small milk crate) and spread the mortar on it
