Basically acid destroys alkaline, depending on how it's diluted, I've used muriatic acid (pool supply for PH)for Portland on tools, spacers,etc. there is a specific liquid, but I'm not buying it. I dilute, then change to stronger if it doesn't break down.
I use Sulfamic, didn't know about Muriatic. Any extra precautions for skin contact?
